At 19 innings and 6.5 hours, our 6th game at the Coliseum was the longest amount of time I’ve ever spent at a baseball stadium. It was also tense, exciting, thrilling, at times monotonous, but mostly excruciating, and we finally got the win at 1:41am. It was fantastic.

Looking for something to do with your Mom this Mother’s day? I’ll have a table at the Spring 2013 Patchwork Show in Oakland this Sunday May 12th. Patchwork is a modern handmade festival that will be full of homemade goods for sale, local music, craft workshops, and good things to eat! I’m thrilled to be participating! Here are the details:

Jack London Square – 98 Broadway (between Broadway and Franklin)

Admission is free!

I’ll have all kinds of lovely things for sale including art prints, masks, pillows, sewing kits, and for the first time ever I’ve made a batch of geode and spike rings to sell! I created these rings as an experiment in laser cut jewelry last December and every time I wear them out I’m stopped and asked about them. I have the rings available in multiple sizes and in limited quantities so come by early if you’d like to snag one! My table will be in the center aisle near the Franklin Street entrance. I hope you’ll stop by and say hello!

Game #5 was a tough one. Being a weekday evening as well as on the tail end of a difficult road trip made for a pretty sparse crowd. It’s amazing how quiet the Coliseum gets when there aren’t many people there – you can hear people yelling all the way across the stadium.

I was completely surprised a few weeks ago to get an offer for free tickets from the A’s. I jumped at the chance and we ended up seeing this game and the one before it back to back. Verlander was pitching for Detroit and some of our power hitters were out so the cards were stacked against us. Even still it was warm out and the crowd was huge and it ended up being the nicest day at the Coliseum that we’ve experienced so far this season.

The next installment of Season Ticket Diaries is here! Game #3 was the first in a sequence of games against Detroit that we went to within a 24 hour time span. Back to back baseball is always exciting but is even better when your team wins in a spectacular fashion. When I showed this comic to Adam he asked why I drew us sitting behind a couple of grumpy muppets!

Game #2 – Opening Day vs. the Seattle Mariners. We were sitting waaaay back up in the bleacher seats with a group of 200+ people and there was a pretty amazing feeling in the sold out Coliseum.

It’s always good news when baseball season starts up again and this year my friends and I got a group of season tickets to see our hometown team: the Oakland Athletics! I’ve never been to so many live baseball games before in my life and I’m pretty pumped. So excited in fact that I’m going to produce a little comic summary for each game we go to! So here’s #1 from a few weeks ago with many more to go. Let’s go Oakland!!

The Compound Gallery & Studios in Oakland is letting me take over the Admiral Dot Miniature Gallery from March 16th to April 28th! My work will be on view in the miniature gallery during Outside the Box II – a show featuring artists from the Compound Gallery’s Art in a Box service. I put together a pattern for a snuggly Yeti pillow that you can sew together! I filled my sample Yeti will flaxseed and turned him into a microwavable heat pack (perfect for warming my toes while drawing in my drafty apartment!).
